Arthur Van Essen is the Leader of Marsh Risk Consulting's (MRC) operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. He is also a member of the Marsh Netherlands Executive Board as well as a Managing Director of Marsh, Inc.

Arthur has extensive involvement in Dutch situated multi-nationals companies. His areas of experience include business risk and risk transfer projects for a variety of industries including power & utility, automotive, chemical, life science and construction. Arthur also leads various risk management training sessions and seminars.

He joined Marsh Netherlands in 1987 and has acted as a broker, claims officer, sales executive and client executive throughout his career. Arthur was transferred to Indonesia, Jakarta in 1995, where he assumed the role as the office's operational manager. While based in Jakarta, he was responsible for the growth and development of Marsh's business lines throughout Indonesia.

When Arthur returned to the Netherlands, he joined Marsh's senior management team and assumed the role as Sales Leader and later as the Affinity Leader, before eventually taking over the helm of the Risk Management Practice. In 2009, he became the MRC Leader in the Netherlands and in early 2010 he assumed the same role for Belgium and Germany.

Arthur is fluent in both Dutch and English and received a Degree in Law from the University of Utrecht. He is also a chartered insurance broker (RMIA).
