  Product Risk
Katherine Cahill
Global Leader — Product Risk Practice

Product risk is a fact of life for all types of manufacturers. The most effective and logical way of dealing with a product risk and recalls is to plan for it in advance. Whether a food manufacturer, a pharmaceutical company, or an automobile manufacturer, having a standard methodology for dealing with product recalls efficiently and in a timely manner is imperative. Without a formal process in place, product recalls can quickly turn into a crisis, resulting in an enormous financial impact to the organization.

As the Global Product Risk Practice Leader, Ms. Cahill is responsible for providing professional advisory services for clients who encounter – or may encounter – a product recall, product tampering, product contamination, or product liability issues. Ms. Cahill has assisted a wide range of industry groups including manufacturers, insurance companies, risk manager, and law firms with product recall matters. Ms. Cahill specializes in regulatory compliance issues in the areas of food, drugs, automotive, and consumer products.

Before joining Marsh, Ms. Cahill was the Global Director, Product Recall Practice at PwC. Prior to that she spent ten years working as a Product Recall Specialist. During this tenure she managed and coordinated an international multimillion-dollar pharmaceutical litigation. This litigation included an extensive review and analysis of FDA trials to determine compliance with federal regulations as well as a compilation of a strategic worldwide recall plan.

Ms. Cahill is an associate professor of law and currently lectures at several law schools around the country in the areas of product liability, class action litigation, and regulatory compliance.
