Kevin McCarthy
Forensic Accounting and Claims Services Leader — North America

Even the best planning cannot anticipate all of the contingencies an organization faces in the wake of a catastrophic event. Restoring operations and ensuring that the business is up and running as quickly as possible is of paramount importance. And obtaining assistance from insurers and fully recovering losses can be critical to the future of an organization. The key to fully recovering insured losses is the ability to efficiently, and in a timely manner, deal with insurance loss measurement, accounting, and claim preparation services.

As North America Leader of Marsh’s Forensic Accounting and Claims Services Practice, Mr. McCarthy has spent the majority of his career in the very specialized field of claims management and has extensive experience in insurance loss accounting, valuation, and insurance policy formats and requirements. Not only does Mr. McCarthy and his team of claim consultants help companies mitigate their costs through expert analysis of exposures, but they also provide pre-loss services such as preparing valuation calculations that identify with great precision the property value amounts that should be covered.

Mr. McCarthy has substantial experience in the preparation, review, and expert testimony of insurance loss claims where accounting expertise applies, such as: Business Interruption, Inventory loss and Valuation, Extra Expenses, Review of Financial Condition Relative to Motive for Arson or Fraud, and Product Liability. Mr. McCarthy is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Dayton and a Masters degree in Taxation from DePaul University.
