Volker Von Widdern is an Executive Director of Marsh South Africa and the Marsh Risk Consulting (MRC) Regional Leader for Africa & the Middle East. He is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and is responsible for the strategic development of MRC business units and for the implementation of management practices that support global MRC strategies. Within this role, he has participated in various acquisitions, practice developments and global projects such as the review of client-facing IT platforms.

Volker has experience in most MRC practices and is actively engaged in the development and rollout of its specialty consulting practices, including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Business Continuity Management, Business Interruption (through FACS), Supply Chain Risk Management, Strategic Risk, Modeling, Analysis & Design (MAD), as well as Claims Consulting, Risk Financing and Captive Management (non-MRC). He also oversees MRC's industry practices in the region, including Mining, Environmental Risk and Plant/Asset Valuations.

Volker joined Marsh South Africa in October 2002 as Director – Marsh Alternative Risk Solutions (MARS). In this position he established an integrated risk finance and risk control consultancy. He is a member of the Marsh Global Risk Consulting group, which is actively engaged in the development of the global Marsh consultancy practices.

Volker is a chartered accountant and holds a MBA from Henley (London). He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Association of Corporate Treasurers, the Society of Risk Managers, and the Institute of Directors.
