Nelson Smith is a Vice President and Senior Consultant in Marsh Risk Consulting's Global Product Risk Practice. This practice specializes in providing professional consulting services for clients who encounter a product recall, product tampering, product contamination, product safety or product liability issues. He works with manufacturers on regulatory compliance, establishing procedures to conduct and/or prevent recalls, minimizing risk and liability.

Prior to joining Marsh, Nelson was the Senior Director of Product Integrity at Strottman International. (SII). At SII he managed worldwide product integrity efforts, ensuring that the product was both safe and met high quality standards, by becoming an integral member of the product development process from the conceptual stage to the final delivery to the consuming public and by writing and implementing the Product Integrity Manual, which was used worldwide for all Strottman products.

Nelson also worked at Mattel, Inc., where he held several management positions in Corporate Product Integrity including managing Mattel’s Worldwide Regulations & Compliance, which included Product Recall Management, Mattel’s Product Conformance Engineering and Mattel’s Product Testing Laboratories.

Nelson has a BS in engineering, and earned certificates as a Quality Instructor from Crosby Quality College in Florida and Business Management from both UCLA & Mattel’s Management Excellence Program.
