As a Managing Consultant in the Reputational Risk & Crisis Management Practice, Lawrence (Larry) Walsh serves as a senior advisor to the C-suite on a broad range of issues with a strong focus on issues management, corporate positioning, and crisis preparedness.
Mr. Walsh has more than 25 years of experience in public affairs, corporate communications, and crisis management. Over the last several years, both at his own firm and at Marsh, he has worked closely with companies and trade associations on positioning strategies and crisis preparedness. Recent projects include: reorganization of the public and government affairs functions of a global energy concern, management of crisis communications during a worldwide product recall, and strategic counsel during a hostile takeover attempt. He is also the author of several benchmarking studies, including an analysis of Communications Alignment and Integration at Ten Leading Companies.
A political consultant by background, Mr. Walsh has worked on more than 30 races for the U.S. House and Senate and on presidential races in the U.S. and Latin America. During the Carter Administration, he served as Special Assistant to the President, supervising press advance operations. Following his White House service, Mr. Walsh became a Senior Vice President and Managing Director at Hill and Knowlton, Inc., where he headed the European public affairs group in the firm’s London offices. He also managed the corporate group in the U.S. and the firm’s first state and local government network.
Mr. Walsh holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin.
