The Client and Its Challenge
This client helped to fuel the PC revolution with the technology that it introduced less than 25 years ago. As a market leader within the technology world, this company has research and development (R&D), manufacturing, and customer service facilities in six countries including the U.S., China, Singapore, and Malaysia.
With significant facilities spanning the globe, this client required the best-in-class from its property loss control consultants. It had to provide insurers with information required to place the appropriate property policies and it wanted to assume ownership of the design, implementation, and management of its property risk control program.
Previously, the client had used several organizations for property risk consulting. Having recently determined that the quality of work by the various consulting teams was not consistent, it looked to Marsh to handle all aspects of its property loss control program.
The Risk Consulting Solution
Based on the quality of work that Marsh consultants previously provided to the client's Asian facilities, Marsh was well-position to introduce its Global Engineered Solution (GES). GES is an integrated and comprehensive risk mitigation and control consulting solution that is designed to meet a multitude of an organization’s internal needs.
Using GES, Marsh consultants worked with the client to identify the appropriate projects to meet its property loss control goals and objectives. With GES, Marsh consultants were able to gain a better understanding of the client's locations, provide more and better data for evaluation, and were able to consistently provide the needed services no matter where a facility was located.
The GES program designed specifically for this client included the fire, boiler and machinery, natural hazard loss control inspection, loss control reports, property loss control benchmarking, plan review services, jurisdictional certificates, and impairment handling for its top 18 facilities around the world.
Results
By implementing Marsh’s GES program at its facilities worldwide, the client was better able to manage its property risk control program and have policies placed that were more reflective of its assets and needs.
Embedded within the GES program is the use of Web-based applications, field-applied technology to collect data and publish reports, and the ability to benchmark internally. Using this technology will allow the client to ascertain measurable results—such as cost savings, improved data quality and the consistency, and ability to implement recommendations more effectively.
